Occupational rehabilitation focuses on helping return injured workers back to work safely and with maximal functional performance while performing their job. Rehabilitation is aimed at correcting injuries and improper work habits, which cause repeated work-related accidents and injuries.
As an Accident Injury MD patient, the first step of your treatment is a consultation with one of our doctors. Our experienced, board-certified doctors will customize a unique program specially designed to heal your condition and relieve your pain. We believe that all parts of your body are interrelated. You can return to optimal health, well-being, and pain-free living by restoring balance within your body.
An FCEs primary purpose is to determine an individual's functional abilities and limitations in a safe environment while focusing on productive work tasks. The service we provide is a valuable tool in assessing an employee's safe working abilities and/or establishing baseline abilities for disability evaluations.
Our FCE correlates a client's functional abilities to the essential physical demands of their job to determine whether they meet these physical demands. Consistency of effort and reliability of pain ratings are important elements of our evaluation, which is why over 70 separate criteria throughout the FCE help determine if a client is putting forth consistent effort and whether their subjective pain ratings are reliable. Additionally, the Functional Capacity Evaluation testing method we use has consistently stood up in a court of law with reliable and validity research to support the testing method.
There are injured workers who are able to remain in the workplace with a progressive return to regular duties and workplace activities with supplemental Physical Therapy, while other workers may require a more advanced course of rehab to return to work.
These more aggressive, targeted return-to-work programs are often referred to as Work Rehabilitation. Work Rehabilitation programs aim to help progress an injured worker's tolerance of occupation-specific physical stresses.
The two types are a Work conditioning program and a Work Hardening Program. Given the nature of the program and the disciplines that are expected to participate, Accident Injury MD is currently unable to provide a true Work Conditioning or Hardening service to its customers, and a referral is placed for these services.
